Chin Surgery (Genioplasty / Mentoplasty)
A chin surgery is performed to balance the over facial appearance. Usually is the most important feature of the face that can complete the profile of the face.
There are two sub procedures under Chin Surgery
- Mentoplasty (Chin Reduction Surgery) – A surgical procedure is performed on the lower jaw line especially the chin area to reduce an over projected chin. An incision is made under this chin or from inside the mouth to trim the over-projecting bone and giving it a symmetric shape. The procedure is finished off by stitched it back up.
- Genioplasty (Chin Augmentation / Implants Surgery) – A surgical procedure on the lower jaw to elongate or increase the symmetry of the chin. An incision is made under the chin or from inside the mouth and an implant is placed. Usually, implants are either made of silicone or other substances that resemble the properties of a natural bone.
